"What do I do when my counter people say, 'I know exactly what a renter will take when I see him walk in the door.'?"

MY ANSWER: This situation brings up a very important issue. This statement is a judgment call by your counter person that needs to be corrected immediately.

Today, you do not have an option to make a judgement call. You can not pick and choose who you offer your programs.

Everything on your rental contacts MUST be offered to every customer every time. If coverages on your rental contract are not offered and the renter has an accident, a legal case can develop to prove that the renter was never presented the option.

The lesson here needs to be clear. If you are not going to make sure your people offer the programs to every renter every time, I advise that you discontinue your programs. It will avoid any legal situations!
